This recipe elevates the classic silken tofu with a homemade sizzling garlic and chili oil that adds incredible texture and heat. It serves as a perfect refreshing appetizer or a light side dish that combines the cool creaminess of the tofu with aromatic, crispy spices.
Carefully remove the silken tofu from its package and drain the excess water thoroughly.
Place the block of tofu on a serving plate. You can slice it into thick cubes or leave it whole depending on your preference.
In a small heatproof bowl, combine the minced garlic, red chili flakes, and half of the chopped green onions.
Heat the vegetable oil in a small pan over medium-high heat until it begins to shimmer and smoke slightly.
Carefully pour the hot oil over the garlic and chili mixture in the bowl; it should sizzle vigorously to release the aromas.
Stir the soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and salt into the oil mixture until the sugar dissolves.
Spoon the aromatic sauce generously over the chilled silken tofu.
Garnish with the remaining green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving immediately.
