This authentic variation uses the traditional 'licuadora' (blender) method popular in Uruguay and Argentina for an effortless savory pie. A simple, pancake-like batter surrounds generous layers of ham and melting cheese, creating a soft, golden, and universally loved comfort dish.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and generously grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or oil.
In a blender, combine the eggs, vegetable oil, milk, and salt. Blend on high speed until the mixture is uniform.
Add the flour and baking powder to the liquid mixture in the blender. Blend again until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
Pour exactly half of the batter into the prepared baking dish, tilting the pan to ensure it covers the bottom evenly.
Layer the ham slices over the batter, followed by the mozzarella cheese slices, covering the surface completely.
Pour the remaining batter over the cheese layer. Use a spatula to gently spread it to the edges, sealing in the filling.
Sprinkle the top with grated Parmesan cheese to create a crispy golden crust.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and puffed. Let it cool for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
