This recipe transforms delicate silken tofu into a comforting warm appetizer topped with a punchy garlic and chili oil dressing. It takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and offers a perfect balance of savory soy, nutty sesame, and aromatic heat.
Carefully remove the silken tofu from its package and drain the water. Place the block into a heat-proof shallow bowl.
Steam the tofu for 5 minutes or microwave it, covered loosely, for about 2 minutes until heated through.
While the tofu is warming, combine the soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, sesame oil, and chili oil in a small bowl. Whisk until the sugar dissolves.
Remove the tofu from the heat and carefully drain any excess water that has accumulated in the bowl.
Pour the savory sauce mixture generously over the warm tofu.
Garnish with the thinly sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds, then serve immediately.
